Introduction

Creating a single Roblox activation is a powerful brand move—but sustaining momentum over time is where lasting impact lies. The most successful brands on Roblox don’t just launch once; they evolve, adapt, and integrate into the platform’s culture.

This final blog in our series outlines how to plan, manage, and grow a long-term Roblox strategy that keeps your brand relevant and connected in the metaverse.

Details

Roblox is a living ecosystem, constantly shaped by user behavior, cultural trends, and platform updates. A long-term strategy must account for ongoing content development, community engagement, and data-driven iteration.

Key components of a sustainable Roblox strategy:

  1. Persistent Experience Development
    Build a branded world that’s always alive. Unlike event-based campaigns, persistent experiences allow for continuous engagement, content updates, and feature evolution.
  2. Live Ops and Seasonal Updates
    Create a content calendar. Launch new quests, avatar items, themes, or challenges monthly or seasonally to re-engage your audience and stay culturally relevant.
  3. Community Management
    Establish a brand-aligned Discord server, integrate in-game feedback tools, and reward loyal players. Recognize creators and fans to build a thriving ecosystem.
  4. Cross-Channel Integration
    Promote your Roblox content across social media, retail touchpoints, and email campaigns. Tie real-world activations into your digital presence for a unified brand experience.
  5. Analytics and Iteration
    Use tools like CreatorExchange.io to monitor player behavior. Refine your experience using heatmaps, drop-off rates, item usage, and event success metrics.
  6. Brand Partnerships and IP Expansion
    Collaborate with other brands, creators, or influencers on Roblox. Shared experiences or co-hosted festivals drive cross-community engagement.
  7. Merchandise and Real-World Tie-Ins
    Leverage Roblox as a testing ground for new products or early previews. Offer code redemptions via physical packaging or release digital twins of real-world merchandise.
  8. UGC Programs
    Empower the community to design content featuring your brand. Support and highlight top creators to organically expand your brand’s digital footprint.

Case Studies or Success Stories

  1. Nike’s NIKELAND
    One of Roblox’s most advanced persistent worlds, NIKELAND offers regular sports-themed updates, avatar drops, and contests. It blends marketing and product engagement seamlessly.
  2. Gucci Town
    Gucci’s virtual space mirrors a digital art gallery, with rotating exhibitions and luxury storytelling. It redefines fashion in the metaverse.
  3. Tommy Play
    From music integration to co-creator content, Tommy Hilfiger’s world thrives as an evolving streetwear and youth-culture hub.
  4. Walmart Universe of Play
    With seasonal updates, toy tie-ins, and redeemable codes, Walmart keeps its Roblox experience fresh, fun, and family-oriented year-round.

Key Takeaways

  • A long-term Roblox presence requires planning, consistency, and flexibility.
  • Live ops, data, and community are key to ongoing relevance.
  • Persistent branded worlds increase ROI compared to single-use event spaces.
  • Integrated marketing across digital and physical channels builds brand unity.

Conclusion

The metaverse isn’t a one-off trend—it’s a new marketing frontier. Brands that treat Roblox as a living, evolving channel will stand out. By investing in a thoughtful long-term strategy, you can deepen audience connections, gather valuable insights, and drive real-world results.

Call to Action

If your brand is serious about engaging Gen Z and Alpha, start building for the long run. Define your content roadmap, partner with an experienced Roblox development studio, and make Roblox a cornerstone of your omnichannel marketing mix.

Five VR Applications By These Industries Will Put You In Amazment https://unanimoustech.com/five-vr-applications-by-these-industries-will-put-you-in-amazment/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=five-vr-applications-by-these-industries-will-put-you-in-amazment https://unanimoustech.com/five-vr-applications-by-these-industries-will-put-you-in-amazment/#respond Fri, 06 Apr 2018 12:12:13 +0000 http://blog.unanimoustech.com/?p=2883 As virtual reality continues to become more sophisticated, forward-looking brands are taking advantage of the technology’s possibilities. Below, we take a quick tour of five different industries. In each case, we profile one company that provides a cutting-edge VR experience.

image001 1 1 image002 1 1 image003 1 image004 1 1 image005 2

The ability to enter different realities may well become the 21st century’s defining characteristic, and this technology will transform every industry.

1. Travel: Tourism Australia

Tourism Australia provides 18 different 360-degree film sequences, showcasing various destinations. The most popular of these include some interaction with wildlife, such as swimming with sea lions or snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef. Users can view the film clips with a Google Cardboard or any other mobile headset. The tourism board’s chief marketing officer, Lisa Ronson, comments, “We have a very competitive landscape in destination marketing, with national tourist offices spending a lot of money. We need to be able to tell the story of Australia in new and engaging ways.”

After launching their campaign, Tourism Australia partnered with Google Think Board and TNS to study its effectiveness. The results provide solid evidence for VR’s value: The videos have been viewed over 10 million times, and they have helped drive a 9 percent increase in visits to the country. After introducing this campaign, the Australia tourism industry experienced a record-breaking year.

To draw travelers with more resources, tourism boards and hospitality brands are offering a sensory taste through VR. Tourism Australia comments, “Virtual reality is one of the most exciting innovations in tourism marketing, enabling consumers to live and experience a destination directly from their living rooms.”

Future Directions for VR in Travel
Video tourism previews such as these are only the beginning. Virtual reality offers many fresh possibilities for the travel industry. A virtual tour guide could provide consumers with a deeper dive into the real-life location they are contemplating. This tour could have an added story element, allowing users to “choose their own adventure.” Some light gamification could also enhance the travel shopping experience. A travel game could give people simple tasks within their virtual preview. Offering them rewards for these tasks would encourage them to make the leap and actually go on vacation.

2. Automobiles: Toyota

Toyota’s virtual reality strategy contributed to a 5 percent lead conversion rate, and that’s not surprising: Shoppers who can personally experience a car and virtually activate all of its features will develop a highly engaged relationship to the vehicle.

In their real-life marketing, Toyota whetted the appetites of customers for its model C-HR before it was released. By offering a virtual experience powered by Zero Light, Toyota captured users’ interests and then stayed connected with those users through an at-home mobile VR experience.

Toyota Takes the Lead in VR
Toyota has been stepping forward aggressively into the world of VR automobile marketing. As an exhibitor at the TechCrunch Disrupt Conference in 2016, Toyota previewed their immersive VR sales experience. Their demo offered the high-quality immersive technology of the HTC Vive, as well as spatial audio and a steering wheel with haptic sensors. The compelling demonstration uses an actual seat from the Prius Prime. Sitting in this seat contributed to a powerful sense of immersion.

VR Actively Engages Auto Shoppers
Enjoying a virtual test drive as part of a game can help people move beyond passive viewing and begin to actively engage with the car. Toyota’s VR experience puts people in the middle of a story. Customers play the role of a getaway driver for a mysterious rider carrying a briefcase. They virtually careen through traffic and escape other vehicles until they reach the culmination of the story and find out what was inside that briefcase.

A CBS news video in January 2018 highlighted some of the uses of VR in future auto sales. The report emphasizes the fact that virtual reality allows buyers to avoid human sales representatives. Instead, buyers can privately (and safely) explore the car’s features and behavior through a virtual test drive.

3. Commercial Real Estate: Macerich

The ability to visualize what an office or apartment building will look like before it’s built is only one advantage of VR Another key benefit is the ability to offer virtual tours to multiple people at once, so an entire investment team can simultaneously tour a property. Decision-makers in a different city can get a full view without having to personally travel to the site.

Residential home buyers have been able to access 3D walkthroughs for a few years. Commercial real estate is breaking new ground with virtual reality design, offering 3D views of future properties. As commercial leasing platform VTS explains, “On the commercial side, one of the most prominent applications of VR is marketing for space that is under construction– or even still on the drawing board. Virtual tours can help potential tenants visualize a space that doesn’t yet exist, and effectively speed lease-up for developers and owners.

Removing Time and Distance Barriers
When Macerich wanted to showcase its 500,000 square foot shopping development in San Francisco, it used VR technology from Floored. Macerich has been at the forefront of defining VR’s usefulness in the commercial real estate market. AZ Big Media notes that Macerich has been using VR to “enhance a building’s impact for stakeholders.”

Customizing Spaces with VR.
Seeing a space ahead of time can be interactive, rather than simply passive. VR gives buyers the ability to reconfigure layouts altogether, including moving walls and reshaping rooms. Leaseholders can choose the right colors and furnishings, customizing their space before it’s assembled. Links to furniture retailers within the virtual showroom allow customers to purchase the furnishings they prefer.

4. Education: Oxford University

A Classroom of Avatars
At the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show, Oxford University teamed up with Immersive VR Education to showcase its new offerings. The platform, called Engage, uses HTC Vive headsets to accommodate up to 30 students at once. The students are represented by avatars in the virtual world, allowing the teacher to provide real-time feedback on student work. The subject of the demonstration is Oxford’s “Life-Saving Instruction for Emergencies (LIFE) Project,” which trains health workers who will be doing medical relief work in developing countries. Dr. Chris Paton, Group Head for Global Health Informatics at the Centre for Tropical Medicine, states that “VR allows students in remote areas to connect with trainers in a virtual hospital ward where they can access equipment and practice performing tasks with a virtual instructor.”

People learn best when they are involved, and VR is the most direct way of actively engaging students with any subject matter. Placing people in new environments often evokes emotions, and these emotions help form strong memories.

Teaching is an ideal example of virtual reality use cases, and new technology will make it easier to share such experiences. This technology enables instructors to set up virtual classrooms, in which students all over the world can interact at the same time.

5. Retail: Alibaba

Redefining Today’s Virtual Shopping Experience
Alibaba is the largest online shopping site in China, and they are using virtual reality to fundamentally transform the shopping experience. In Fall 2016, Alibaba launched its Buy+ VR platform, giving users the chance to view virtual representations of a selection of products. The only equipment needed was a Google Cardboard VR headset and a smartphone. Within one hour of launch, 30,000 users had tried out the experience. A year later, Alibaba upgraded this platform by erecting a “virtual mall” in which shopper could explore offerings from six different retailers.

These sensory explorations are still in their very early phases, but Alibaba’s innovations suggest the shopping methods of the future. A few technologies need to become more sophisticated in order to make the virtual storefront comparable to in-person shopping. Gaze-based interfaces are beginning to be functional, but they still face design challenges. Haptic gloves, which allow users to experience tactile sensations with their hands, will inevitably become part of the virtual shopping experience.

VR’s Bright Future
To recognize the enormous power of VR’s emerging influence, one only has to look at the investment forecasts: IDC projects that global spending on AR and VR will rise from 2017’s $11.4 billion to over $200 billion in 2021. The ability to enter different realities may well become the 21st century’s defining characteristic, and this technology will transform every industry.

Just as Amazon disrupted brick and mortar storefronts, virtual reality is enabling the next quantum leap in retail. Although the state of portable VR technology is still evolving, some companies are pushing the envelope of what’s possible.

Appealing to the Senses
As part of its virtual shopping mall, Alibaba rolled out a new form of payment. VR Pay allows customers to make purchases within the virtual environment. They only have to look or nod at a product, and it is placed in their shopping cart. The user provides personal identification through voice print technology. They also have to input a password, which they can do by directing their gaze at a certain point for a specified length of time.

12 Best Android Games Of 2016 (Till Now) https://unanimoustech.com/12-best-android-games-2016-till-now/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=12-best-android-games-2016-till-now Fri, 03 Jun 2016 18:47:23 +0000 http://www.unanimousstudios.com/?p=774 12 Best Android Games Of 2016 (Till Now)

There are actually good android games out there, but you must be tired of drudging through endless shovel ware games just to find a good one.People look for android RTS, flight sims, platformers, and probably a few other categories and sure, some of the games found aren’t bad, but they’re nothing to rave about, but still, i know there are games you could really enjoy.

If you have no rigid preferences for what you’re looking for, here are some top 12 android games you’d love to play :-

Here are 12 selective and amazing games piled up for you :

1.Minecraft PE

Yeah, it’s Minecraft. Needs no introduction.

2. Exiles:

Far Colony – now known as Exiles: Zero or something. Open world RPG by Crescent Moon Games, pretty decent. Graphics/campaign leave a little to be desired, but it’s not bad.

3. CounterSpy

2D/3D platforming third-person shooter. It’s good, very good.

4. Star Wars: KoToR

It’s a Star Wars RPG and free on Amazon Underground. Get it.

5. Star Command

I’d say it’s similar to how FTL plays (ship management wise). Interesting little game, I think it’s worth a play-through.

6. SimpleRockets/SimplePlanes

Physics simulators. Rockets is like 2D Kerbal Space Program, Planes is a 3D flight “sim”.

7. Aralon: Forge and Flame

Newest one, Very positive reviews and probably as close to Skyrim on your phone as we’re getting.

8. Soul Unleashed RPG

It’s an RPG and rather unique in how it plays. I haven’t seen anything else like it so I can’t compare it to something else. Free Lite version if you want to test it out.

9. The Dark Knight Rises

Open world Batman game. Closest you’ll get to Arkham City on your phone as of now.

10. Shadowrun: Dragonfall

A very deep RPG. I highly recommend it (first level on easy mode whipped my ass, haven’t come back since). Note: There is another Shadowrun game, but this Dragonfall is a must play.

11. Battlestation: Harbinger

Rogue-like game, sort of similar to FTL’s galaxy system. Key word; sort of. It’s pretty fun.

12. Ravensword: Shadowlands

Another 3D open world RPG. No voice acting at all, kind of dated graphics. It’s decent, not amazing but it’s good when there’s nothing else.

Game and app development company, Unanimous Studios also develop such games for their clients>  :-

Honorary mention : Anomaly Warzone Series – Counter-tower offense and one tower defense in the series. Excellent graphics, pretty good story, and decent permissions. Hard mode can and will kick your ass.

Top 12 Puzzle Game In Android https://unanimoustech.com/top-12-puzzle-game-android/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=top-12-puzzle-game-android Sat, 28 May 2016 03:53:27 +0000 http://www.unanimousstudios.com/?p=782 Top 12 Puzzle Game In Android

I’ve had a ton of Puzzle games on my phone for ages:

Huebrix, Trains, Puzzle Retreat, Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake, Cut the Ropes, Where’s My Water, Hungry Cat Picross, Hitman GO, even Pudding Monsters!

So here’s We piled up a list of 12 best puzzle games for android users :

1.Shoot the apple

Fire an alien thing out of a cannon, bouncing it off various obstacles, to hit the apple. Like cut the rope getting the lolly to reach the frog thing.

2. Triple town

Similar model to 2048. Put down various tiles strategically, when three are together they upgrade.

3. Unblock Me

Sliding puzzle, move the pieces to get the goal piece out. There’s also the ridiculous number of escape the room or 100 doors games if you’re into those. These next few are more point and click adventure puzzle games than Cut The Rope style, but they are the ones I’ve absolutely loved and will recommend wholeheartedly to everybody. Some of them may be too long to finish a section in a bathroom break, but I’m pretty sure they all save your progress so you can continue from wherever you left off, and frankly, most of them had me so intrigued that I played for hours straight at home so they’re still worth a look, even if they don’t meet your goal.

4. The Room 1 & 2

One central object (or in 2, a series of these objects in a room) that you can explore 360 degrees of, containing multiple puzzles to unlock various pieces and eventually progress to the next section. Great graphics, puzzles are challenging but not very difficult, hints are in a series that become progressively more obvious. Buy the first & see if you like it before getting the second.

5. Silent Age

Fan-fucking-tastic point and click adventure game. Great style, unique mechanic(jumping between present and dystopian future to solve each puzzle), decent story. First half is free, second half is quite expensive, so try the first half & if you like it, treat buying the second like a thank you for the first half as well. My favorite!

6. Yesterday

Similar point and click adventure to Silent Age, but 3d instead of 2d. Story is a little odd with highs and lows, but definitely worth a play. Art style is interesting, almost goes for the intentional bad/comic look of the Telltale Walking Dead games. There’s a free and a paid version with no discernible differences as far as I know. That reminds me, Walking Dead is also on android if you haven’t played it. More action/adventure story with a point and click interface than a puzzle, but it’s a game of the year winning series.

10 Must Play Addictive Games In Browser

7. Another World

Classic action point and click game, escape aliens.

8. Fire Maple Games

Series of three point & click explorer type games where you find puzzles in the world to progress. Short story guides each one but is pretty average, puzzles are varying quality & some make little sense, hints are obvious. If you really like Mystery type games!

9. Clockwork Tales

Another mystery style world exploring puzzle game. Free demo worth trying, final chapters are really expensive & I didn’t enjoy it/feel like it was long enough to justify the purchase, but the demo is worth it at least. I think the dev makes a lot of the same style.

Top 10 Indie Games Of April 2016

10. Quell

It has short levels but you can pass a lot of time with it. The music is soothing and overall it feels like a calm game, made for adults.

11. Carcassone

A game you play taking turns with another player (online, or vs computer offline) and try to rack up as many points as possible controlling territory.

12. The Last Door

It’s an amazing horror puzzle game with Lovecraft themes.

Honorary mention : WordMine

If you like word puzzle game, it is one of the new and best I have ever played. Addictive, especially the adventure mode. Great gameplay. You will stick to it for a while.We at Unanimous Studios also develop this kind of games for our customers, so if you want to develop a game for your business or want to do business from game, please contact us

What’s going on the lovers of Indie games? Welcome to the season of lists, it’s now April, 2016 and the month holds plenty of gaming glory but not all of that will come from major marquee triple-a titles like Mirror’s edge to or the new legend of Zelda, in fact a lot of this year’s heat and charm will arise from smaller studios, Indie games more bite sized projects that hide plenty of  awesomeness.Btw we are Indie game developer, you can find our portfolio in this website

These are my top 10 Indie games of April’ 16 :

Days of War

We start off with the game already funded in the form of ‘Days of War’. The pitch here is to revive the WW2 fps genre. Regular viewers may realize that sounds incredibly similar to ‘Battalion 1944’, it is much prettier and got more funding, but overall we feel more convinced by ‘Days of War’. They’ve made it clear the focus is on skill and realism. There won’t be any kill streak or 360 no scope nonsense. There are soldier classes such as rifleman, sniper and rocket, and built-in support for modding. On a side note, you’ve got to love how Russian, British and French forces are all stretch goals, but the Americans, who only fought in the war for two and a half years, are going to be included in the game no matter what. God bless America.

Hyper Light Drifter

It is on PC right now, the consoles releases will be coming later. Its dungeons and upgrades are all very classic Zelda. The wordless story is powerful without being overbearing. The post-apocalyptic world is large, beautiful and full of curiosity. The game’s heart is its combat. It is hard, some would even say unsympathetic with its lack of instruction. But it respects the player’s intelligence and gives you its worlds and mysteries for all your private exploration and understanding. Fights demand your attention and have a great rhythm, the character movement is super slick, and it always feels boss to be wielding a sword made of light. It’s a special game.

Hyper Light Drifter

Deadbolt : Risk of Rain creators deliver again with merciless assassination game DEADBOLT. It plays a bit like Hot Miami, but more like Not a Hero, and even more like gunpoint. Playing as the Grim Reaper you must take out rooms with clinical and precise stealth. There is no room for error and zero chance of escape. By turning into smoke you can travel through vents, easily the coolest part of the game. Developer Hopoo Games have a proven ability to take 2D art to a new level. Deadbolt is a chilling, challenging and overall cracking stealth game.

Hyper Light Drifter

Out There Somewhere : It is and affordable and clever little retro package. What makes this platformer cum puzzler nifty is its teleport gun, which allows you to shoot a bullet and then travel to where it goes Much like the Doctor’s sonic screwdriver it’s the tool for every job, whether that be zapping through a waterfall of lava or jumping a gap. Things get a lot more crazy and creative than that, but we’ll leave them as surprises for you to uncover.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=fxAx0VroJP4

Moon Hunters

It shows the potential of narrative in roguelikes, but could have stayed in early access a bit longer. The game is full of interesting characters, lore, and amazing abilities like talking to animals. But to really uncover that stuff you need to invest time. It is still getting updated and the PS4 release in the works .

Moon Hunters

ADR1FT : It is a breath-taking lonely experience in space hindered by some rude interruptions. The game is a walking simulator, or in this case, more of a floating in space stimulator. Its kind of like playing Gravity or The Martian instead of watching them. That’s pretty cool The visuals are amazing, constantly stimulating your experience and adding an incredible level of reality. We can only assume this would be amplified in the VR version. From the very start you’re in trouble, the space station is destroyed, you have no memory of what transpired, and your oxygen levels are waning. The action only rises from there, making survival an engrossing and emotional task. It really all sounds great.

Moon Hunters

Quest of Souls : Is it the 1990s again? Well the re-emergence of denim jackets and ‘Quest of Souls’ will certainly have you asking that question. From its gameplay to its style, this throwback is all about recreating the shoot ‘em up RPG’s of 90’s. From the initiated, it’s basically a twin stick shooter with heaps of upgrades and abilities and items. What we really love about ‘Quest of Souls’ is its zany personality. Take for instance its three playable characters: a corgi dragonslayer, a lizardman samurai and a lich playing for the good side. It should also be perfect for playing with others, with co-op for up to 3 and competitive multiplayer.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=tqrbIn5AN88

Moon Hunters

LUX : By the time you read this, LUX’s campaign will be over, and, barring a miracle, it won’t have hit its funding goal. We’re not sure if Chimera Co. will persevere with the project. But considering, they got a graphic novel for the game funded, and that LUX has some neat ideas. Combining survival with MMO, LUX looks like an extra surreal, Don’t starve with way more players. That’s something we want to play.

Fear Effect Sedna

The critically acclaimed Playstation series ‘Fear Effect’ has returned with ‘Fear Effect Sedna’. About a year ago, Square Enix made some of its old and dormant IPs available to other developers. Sushee Games have taken full advantage of this and, to the delight of many gamers, decided to reboot Fear Effect. The original ‘Fear Effects’ were set in futuristic Hong Kong Underworld and were famous for their cut scenes that were cutting edge at the time. Sedna while keeping the setting and bringing back the original cast of characters, but the gameplay are different. Instead, of a variety of camera angles, things are fixed to an isometric perspective and cut scenes don’t seem to be embedded within the gameplay as the original.

Fear Effect Sedna

The Wild Eight : Arguably a bizarre cross between Eight Below and the Hateful Eight, ‘The Wild Eight’ is an Eerie survival adventure designed for co-op. A terrifying plane crash in the snowy wilderness of Alaska leaves 8 survivors to fend off the conditions, hunger, and wild predators. Co-op really unlocks the magic of the game because it brings the dynamics of teamwork. Will you pull together to find out, or will someone betray another survivor for cannibalistic snack? The worlds are procedurally generated, and there are different endings dependent on what side quests you do. We haven’t seen a lot of pile-driven games with a focus on small co-op teams, so we think ‘The Wild Eight’ is a fill a hole in the markets .

Top 10 app for Health and Fitness for Iphone https://unanimoustech.com/top-10-app-health-fitness-ios/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=top-10-app-health-fitness-ios Sat, 14 May 2016 18:41:55 +0000 http://www.unanimousstudios.com/?p=757 Top 10 app for Health and Fitness for Iphone

We use ‘Health’ for tracking quantities and types of medications with Workflow. We’ve created about 6 workflows to record data in proxy metrics for things we’d otherwise never use, like Thiamin, Niacin, etc. They correspond to the first letter of a medication, and we convert units when proxies use stupidly small ones (e.g. 50mg pill is 50000mcg of Molybdenum).The workflows are on the today screen and we can record data in 1-2 seconds – about as frictionless as one can record something. I’ll write an article about this at some point soon, I think it’d be useful for others to adopt.

Now, here are the list of top 10 apps for health and fitness for iOS users :

1.Optimized – Lifelogging and Quantified Self Improvement App

[Cocos2dx] FileUtils Cross-Platform Resource Handling For IOS and Android https://unanimoustech.com/cocos2dx-fileutils-cross-platform-resource-handling/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=cocos2dx-fileutils-cross-platform-resource-handling Fri, 13 May 2016 19:47:55 +0000 http://www.unanimousstudios.com/?p=746 Prerequisite :
I hope the one going through this tutorial have prior knowledge of cocos2dx development and is currently using cocos2dx for one of their game project. A basic understanding of C++ and use of preprocessors is required to implement  this tutorial in one of your project.

Problem :
In most of the cross platform game development using cocos2dx scenarios their are multiple developer working on the same project faces a common issue related to paths of files in resource folder specially the assets like images and audio.
e.g
on ios / mac

Sprite *anSprite = Sprite::create(“some.png”);  works irrespective of it’s location in directory under Resource folder.
While for android you might have to specific the path to image like “path/to/image/some.png”

This wastes a lot of time if you have to port the project to run on either of the platform or any other supported by cocos2dx

How A Lazy Developer Solves This Problem  :

The shortest way to solve this is to put all the images and files under Resource Directory of cocos2dx.
Surely you don’t have bother about anything but again image if you have lots of asset that needs to be managed carefully for each resolution .

Cococ2dx Solution :-

Earlier CCFileUtils now FileUtils handle this problem for you with ease but i’ve seen most of the developer who only have to run the project on single platform will never care to use these methods and even if you use this it does make you code look a little ugly.

Usage :-
FileUtils::getInstance()
This singleton class provide lots of helpful and very useful methods for  file handling operations specific to different platforms.

Suppose you have various subfolder in your resource folder.
like this
Resource\Images\ipad\hero.png
Resource\Images\iphone\hero.png
Resource\Images\ipad\level1.png
Resource\Images\iphone\level1.png

Resource\Images\GameGUI\ // contains all UI related assets
To create any sprite from this you can write following like on iOS
Sprite *hero = Sprite::create("hero.png");
Sprite *levelBG = Sprite::create("level1.png”);

And this is not going to work when you run the code on android platform. As for android you need to specify full path of the resource or it should be  direct under Asset Folder and suppose you have various resolutions like HVGA WVGA etc so cocos2dx provide following flow.

Add Search Path in FileUtils specify resolution  anywhere in your code.
FileUtils::getInstance()->addSearchPath("Images");
FileUtils::getInstance()->addSearchPath("Images/GameGUI/“);

FileUtils::getInstance()->addSearchResolutionsOrder(“iPad”);
FileUtils::getInstance()->addSearchResolutionsOrder(“iPhone”);

Get path for File Name
FileUtils::getInstance()->fullPathForFilename(“hero.png”)

OR
FileUtils::getInstance()->fullPathForFilename(“level1.png”)

will return exact path to these images based on device resolution or type from the Resource folder.

Sprite *hero = Sprite::create(FileUtils::getInstance()->fullPathForFilename(“hero.png”));
Code will this work on any platform supported by cocos2dx.

Short Trick:
Now C++ is an excellent language and it does provide a lots of feature that an programmer can use to not only
optimise the code but make it look beautiful.
Using #define preprocessor will not only save your time writing FileUtils everywhere you need to access a resource but also make your code look clean.

Add these lines either in AppDelegate.h or any file where you put your constants or configurations
#define IMAGENAMED(__FILE_NAME__) (FileUtils::getInstance()->fullPathForFilename(__FILE_NAME__))
#define AUDIONAMED(__FILE_NAME__) (FileUtils::getInstance()->fullPathForFilename(__FILE_NAME__))
// just to make code look tidy.

#define ADDPATH(__FILE_PATH__) (FileUtils::getInstance()->addSearchPath(__FILE_PATH__))
#define ADDRESOLUTION(__RESOLUTION__) (FileUtils::getInstance()->addSearchResolutionsOrder(__RESOLUTION__))

Now i’ve this IMAGENAMED thing and i’m so obssessed with it ever since I started programming games for iPhone back in 2009 but you can feel free to use anything to define it in your code.

So the previous code block now becomes .

ADDPATH("Images");
ADDPATH("Images/GameGUI");

ADDRESOLUTION(“ipad”);
ADDRESOLUTION(“iphone”);

Sprite *hero = Sprite::create(IMAGENAMED(“hero.png”));
Sprite *levelBg =  Sprite::create(IMAGENAMED(“level1.png”));

You can use it anywhere for eg. in menu
MenuItemImage *btn_menu = MenuItemImage::create(IMAGENAMED(“menu_button.png”), IMAGENAMED(“menu_button.png”), CC_CALLBACK_0(GameSceneUI::onMenu, this));

I hope this short trick help you handle Resource across different platform easily .

Feel free to write me back for any query or questions or issue in my above tutorial.
